If the series happens to be one of your most favorite franchises, Infinity can help sate your hunger. Even the audio elements, from the voice acting to the explosions and sound effects, are similar. The protagonists, hostages, and enemy soldier and units models are similar to the mainstream titles. The main draw of Metal Slug Infinity is its art style and presentation elements which are undoubtedly close to the main games. There’s a large cast of characters and slugs you can collect and are differentiated by different star rarities. Metal Slug Infinity’s game modes include the standard story mode as well as PvP and a dungeon mode where you fight enemies for rewards like new characters and slugs. This ensures you’ll be stronger than you were before and in a way, rewards you from doing it all over again. In a nutshell, you’ll earn new passive skills and masteries whenever you start from scratch at level one. Apart from the gold earned and the slugs (vehicles you can activate and ride) you collect, you’ll progress through its medals system. Imagine having to do that with six other characters who currently fighting out on the field. For example, if you earn enough gold to level your characters up by 10, you’ll need to tap on their character portraits 10 times. Thing is, it has a few problems with regards to its intuitiveness or lack thereof. Metal Slug Infinity’s tutorial orients you about the game’s basic aspects, from leveling your characters up to changing your roster. Don’t expect to fully take out General Morden’s troops and freeing hostages on your own since the gameplay is fully automated. Instead, your role is limited to managing the characters you collect by leveling them up, improving their “slugs”, and adding better and stronger characters in your team. So no, you won’t get to control any of the characters while running and gunning. It is and plays like an idle RPG: you make progress even when you don’t play and your characters continue to fight and earn gold even when you’re not playing. First off, Metal Slug Infinity isn’t your typical Metal Slug game as you’ll learn quite early on. Thing is, what was originally a run ‘n’ game fit well as an idle RPG? Let’s take a look at what the game offers. In a nutshell, it has Metal Slug’s presentation just with idle RPG elements. It fits the mobile formula well, but for some reason, they authorized Ekkorr to create an idle RPG based on the franchise called Metal Slug Infinity.
Thing is, the game hasn’t really done well in the modern era with SNK preferring to release classic versions of the older games. It’s a run ‘n’ gun action-shooting game where you take out hordes of enemies, large vehicles, and powerful bosses while picking different weapons and upgrades. Metal Slug is one of those iconic and classic franchises that added color to the era of 90s gaming.
